EMPS Receives Exclusive License on Photovoltaic Inverter Technology

Knoxville, TN - July 15, 2008 – Today Electronic Magnetic Power Solutions (EMPS) announced that it has received an exclusive worldwide license from Virginia Tech for a revolutionary photovoltaic inverter technology.

The inverter technology was developed by Dr. Jason Lai, Director of Future Energy Electronics Center and EMPS' Chief Technical Officer. The inverter efficiency has been proven at >98%. This higher efficiency inverter system will generate more usable AC power in photovoltaic systems.

Several technical breakthroughs were accomplished in the inverter design. EMPS, in cooperation with Virginia Tech, is applying for both U.S. and foreign patents on the new technology.

EMPS is developing inverter products based the new technology. When commercially available these inverters can improve the cost-effectiveness of solar photovoltaic systems accelerating market adoption for this renewable energy source.
