Solar photovoltaic (PV) require power conversion electronics to provide usable AC power. Electronic Magnetic Power Solutions (EMPS) is taking an entirely new system engineering approach to power electronics for solar photovoltaic (PV) and other renewable energy sources. The US Department of Energy has identified power electronics technology as a critical bottleneck for widespread PV adoption and has assisted in funding the initial development of EMPS' revolutionary technology in cooperation with Virginia Tech's Future Energy Electronics Center.

EMPS' mission is to develop and deliver inverter and converter products for photovoltaic (PV) and other renewable energy sources providing the highest total energy harvesting, lowest lifetime system cost, and value-added energy management features.
